If you have access to a sewing machine and the right fabric, you can make your own curtains at home – and there are plenty of reasons why it’s a great idea to make curtains yourself rather than to rely on anything store-bought. Here’s why home made curtains are better for your home.
Your Choice of Fabric:
Making curtains yourself allows you to customize every aspect of the process, including the type of fabric you end up using. Choose heavier fabrics for areas where you’d like to let in less light (but make sure that your curtain railing is able to support the weight first). Need a different effect? Choose a different fabric.
Weird Length? No Problem:
A lot of houses have curtain lengths that match almost nothing available on the market. In this case, the easiest and most convenient option is to approach the project yourself. That way, the curtains can be made to fit the measurements of the house.
Shading Choices:
Any choice of fabric or shading is available when you make curtains yourself. While manufacturers might have a great idea of what their curtains should look like, only you know the individual lighting aspects of your room – and what would work best.
